There’s been a lot of talk about the Jos to Abuja flight being a good idea, while the masses are applauding this… I beg to differ…
Oh but it’s Great, looking at it in another direction, there are emergencies to attend to and if you can afford the comfort, it’s wonderful
I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I subtly was waiting for the day a government official would be kidnapped or blocked on the Jos Abuja road, arhhh maybe they will feel our plight, maybe they will direct some of the loot to patching the roads
Maybe they would take insecurity more seriously.
But i guess my heart is still being renewed.. I will fast and pray some more.
I slept with this thought and I still have it fresh on my mind, I was almost becoming upset
Considering that I had made a journey through the road some weeks ago, I also made the other part of the trip to the Eastern part of Nigeria via road…
it was a horrible experience, not just because the roads are catastrophic, but because of the impunity of the Nigeria police and other security agencies
I am still trying to ask my lawyer if there is somewhere in the Nigerian Constitution that stipulates that bribe and tips are legal
I had some policeman blatantly and shamelessly bargain tips as though they were bargaining for a mudu of rice, there are more tales I can share but I don’t want to hurt some more.
Ok
I took the return trip by air, though it felt like a relief, It was great to do 15 hour journey in 1hr 15mins, no sweat no aches
But as soon as I arrived, I became angrier when I placed the two Experiences of road Vs air side by side
My point is this,
I see the Nigerian elite being proactive in areas that directly concern their welfare, and nonchalant in areas that affect the masses (the real masses, those who can’t afford 2000 to Abuja)
The stories of the kidnaps are rising, the accidents are there, the bribes are not leaving anytime soon
Accident victims from that road are barely able to survive the unequipped hospitals and striking doctors
Boko haram fighters are being airlifted for false court cases (did I say false cases?, it’s a typographical error)
“I am travelling by road” seems like a call for family fasting and Prayers, i watched a video of a kidnap victim being flogged as he was forced to coerce his family to pay a certain amount of money,
i could not watch to the end.. the shivers i felt where overwhelming…
It’s sad, I would stop here, it’s too early in the morning to rant about Nigeria, but some things have got to be said, I don’t think we deserve any better, I don’t think we are angry enough to demand what we deserve
But these are my thoughts,
THIS CHANGE IS JUST STARTING, because while Nigerians are still mourning the increase in fuel, rice, transport, etc
We are still Celebrating advances that have no direct consequence on our direct reality
Good morning leaders
Dear Max Air
Welcome to Jos
Our Flight to a different realm of Change has just began
