I woke up on 22/10/2020, and I heard the national anthem in my head, I quickly remembered the gory sights of the last 48 hours, and the National anthem was sung to me all over again, but this time I heard it differently…

Read on patiently

ARISE, OH COMPATRIOTS
(They have arisen already they are standing, they are resolute, some died in Lekki 20/10/2020, some are praying, some are still awake, some are in the streets, some are crying in their beds with hope, the pictures of their colleagues dead, painful, yet inspiring)

NIGERIA’S CALL OBEY
(The call is not the call of the government, it’s the call of a new Nigeria begging to be realized, begging to be manifested, we are responding to the call with hashtags, in peaceful protests and clear demand’s, we have responded with money, with resources, our lives, our time, with our skill and all we have)

TO SERVE OUR FATHERLAND
(We shut down out lives for weeks because service to fatherland was greater than any kind of service, as our land is a gift from God)

WITH LOVE AND STRENGTH AND FAITH
(We have shown love to each other, and to the people killing us, we demanded a better life for them, even while we were being killed, we even gave them food and drinks, we have faith that our voice will be heard, we are strong and we directed our strength to the National cause, we believe in Nigeria.)

THE LABOUR OF OUR HEROES PAST SHALL NEVER BE IN VAIN
(The heroes of Independence and the heroes of lekki toll gate  shall not be in vain

The Jimoh Ishaqs and the Nnamdi Azikiwe’s
The Oke-Obi’s, the Tony’s and DJ Switch at Lekki 20/10/2020 as well as the Dele giwa’s of old… we will never forget

These are the heroes

All the youths who are laying their lives daily, and the elders who weren’t silent when the Britons time were up, not the elders who call us lazy Nigerian youths and just want to go back to their normal substandard lives, But the elders who ask us to press on and walk the streets with us, not those who are asking the Youths to negotiate with a system that they negotiated with for 60 years to no avail)

TO SERVE WITH HEART AND MIGHT, ONE NATION BOUND IN FREEDOM
In all the clamouring, we never mentioned a divided Nigeria, we have prayed together on the streets North, South, East and West, Christian, Moslem and even traditional worshipers

While the older generations want Nigeria split into crumbs, the generation are laying down their lives as a token for peace, as a sign of their faith in Nigeria

They are not thinking of the mansions and how they will bury money for their own children, it’s a collective success that is inspiring them

For once, I have every reason to believe that the national anthem was not for the Nigeria of Old, it was a prophetic call by  Pa Benedict E. Odiase (August 25, 1934 – June 11, 2013), a call that this generation was supposed to answer

Here we are, Hungry ones, the Nation has failed to satisfy our hunger,

Here we are thirsty ones, the Nigeria has failed to quench our thirst

We are in need of Divine Intervention
And intervention has come!!!

ARISE OH COMPATRIOTS
ANSWER THE CALL OF PROPHESY!!!

then there was

PEACE AND UNITY
